Commission

I offer both portraits and bespoke commissions. Below is a guide on both the process and what to expect.

Booking a Pet Portrait

If you are interested in finding out more about having your pet's portrait commissioned, please do contact me and we can talk more about what you would like.

Below are some points on what to expect from the commission processs

Photos

Working with photos means I do require good quality images to ensure I capture your pet just as you would like.

Helpful Tips:

  • Good quality image of high resolution

  • Take a photo at eye level with your pet, if possible

  • Good lighting to capture all the detail, natural lighting is best. Overcast days are better than sunny days (which can cast shadows)

  • Take the photo with your light source behind and your pet facing into the light.

Sometimes it's not always possible to take a photo if your beloved pet has passed. I can, however, work with you to recreate the essence of your pet using a selection of photos for reference.

Booking and Deposit

Once photos have been provided I will always be honest if, for any reason, I would be unable to capture your pet's portrait (for example low light, low-quality photos)

Once the requirements have been finalised and you are happy to proceed with the commission I will require a non-refundable 50% deposit 4 weeks in advance to secure your booking and agreed start date.

Updates

During the portrait process I will send picture updates and on the completion of the artwork I will email a photo for your approval.

Once approved and the remaining balance has been received collection/delivery will be arranged.

How long will my portrait take?

Each portrait is unique and therefore completion times will vary. Factors include the size and complexity of the commission however, most portraits are completed within 6 weeks and often sooner. I can prioritise when needed as long as my schedule allows and can offer shorter completion times if you have a particular deadline to work to.

Booking a Bespoke Commission

I really enjoy taking on bespoke commissions and working with my clients to bring their vision to life. I've worked with various clients and below are some of their testimonials.

I was invited to a breakfast networking event by the Head of Business for Loake shoemakers in Oxford Westgate and I thought it would be fitting to create a bespoke piece of art to present on the day to show my appreciation for the networking opportunity.

“@artist_cherise is clearly a very talented lady and I would like to invite anyone who has the vision of utilising her professional flare whether for business, personal, or gifting to visit her page and connect.”

Bob Douglas - Head of Business, Loake Shoemakers Westgate Oxford

During the most testing times the modern world has faced in my lifetime I wanted to give something back for the selfless efforts of our brave NHS. I spent many months during the pandemic capturing the faces of some of our brave frontline and key works as a thank you for their efforts to protect us.

“ Thought I would let you know that I saw my daughter last weekend (first time in almost a year). I gave her the portrait and she was thrilled as I was. She was very touched and says thank you very much for your work and your gift. Thank you once again, from all of us”

Chris Stapleton - Norfolk

“picking up the most incredible gifted piece of art which I will treasure forever. This picture stands for everything we, in my little corner of the NHS (maternity covid ward/spires), have been through together.”

Natalie Shakespeare - Oxford

If you have any bespoke requirements I can help bring your vision to life. Please do get in touch and we can discuss how to make your vision a reality.
